Palm-Lined Resort Minutes from Theme-Park Fun
After Disney's nightly fireworks have faded and the Magic Kingdom's castle gates have shuttered for the evening, imaginations flourish well into the night at the hotel's castle-themed playspace. Though family vacations to Orlando usually revolve around the theme parks, Worldgate Resort does its part to keep kids and parents entertained between attractions. The hotel, located less than 1 mile from Disney World, boasts onsite perks such as an palm-lined pool, a poolside cabana with snacks and tropical drinks, and a kids' movie-screening area. But when the theme parks beckons, you can easily get to Disney World, Universal Studios, and other attractions with the resort's free scheduled shuttle service.
Guest rooms feature navy-and-white walls and bedding to suggest the Atlantic. The onsite Savannah Grille draws inspiration from the Caribbean with island-style seafood dishes for daily breakfast buffets overlooking the pool. Alternatively, you can grab pre-park bites at the Pralines Food Court, which stocks to-go sandwiches alongside an Uno's Express and Starbucks stations.
Kissimmee: Theme-Park Wonderland near Downtown Orlando
The many theme parks, golf courses, and water parks of Walt Disney World are within a short drive of Worldgate Resort. At Epcot, one of Disney's earliest parks, an 11-country tour highlights international cuisines, music, and mythology, all centered on the time-travel ride of Spaceship Earth, designed in part by the acclaimed science-fiction writer Ray Bradbury. A quick shuttle drive away, Typhoon Lagoon takes advantage of Orlando's subtropical climate with water attractions, including enormous, looping slides designed for multiperson rafts or vacationing hippos.
About a 30-minute drive from the hotel, the city of Orlando offers a lower-key outlet, removed from the bright theme-park lights. At Lake Eola in downtown Orlando, swan-shaped paddleboats float just beyond the mist of an enormous fountain. Hip restaurants, antique stores, and boutiques populate Ivanhoe Village on the outskirts of downtown, and Wall Street's cluster of bars in the center of town rage well into the night.
