The Issue: Lack of Supplies for Creative-Jobs Training
Led by professional artists and higher-education instructors, Juxtaposition Arts provides youth with visual-arts literacy training that teaches them professional design, production, and marketing skills. During each studio workshop, students create high-quality design products that are sold to both local and national customers. The organization requires outside funding to purchase the supplies necessary for the studios.
The Campaign: Providing Supplies for Arts-Literacy Training
If this Grassroots campaign raises $500, then Juxtaposition Arts can provide art supplies to 19 youth participating in its arts-literacy training program. Each additional $130 can provide supplies to five more students. Supplies vary depending on each studio’s project but include items such as sketchbooks, pencils, watercolor paint, and paintbrushes.
Juxtaposition Arts
Juxtaposition Arts (JXTA) engages 650 young artists in North Minneapolis annually in hands-on educational programs that teach professional design, production, and marketing skills. Led by professional artists and higher-education instructors, each job-training studio uses an integrative, problem-solving curriculum that guides students through the planning, production, and marketing of high-quality design products, which can then be sold to both local and national customers. Through its programs, JXTA aims to transform young artists into innovators and problem solvers, arming them with the confidence, skills, and connections to successfully enter and thrive in the creative workforce. A strong focus on community-based creative expression encourages participating youth to contribute to the revitalization of their own communities as they develop their careers.
