Family-Friendly Resort with Indoor Water Park Minutes from Niagara Falls
Although retractable roofs are most associated with sporting venues, the designers of Americana Resort and Waves Indoor Waterpark couldn't help but use the technology for their facility. At the resort's Waves Indoor Waterpark, a retractable roof soaks in the sun on warmer days and keeps the park at 84 degrees during Niagara's sometimes-cool weather. Even with the misty Horseshoe Falls just a 10-minute drive away, the thrill of tube and body water slides up to three stories tall can make it difficult to leave the resort. Gushing fountains and heated whirlpools sprawl across the 25,000-square-foot park. With their kids occupied, parents can hang back at the lounge or head over to the resort's spa for a massage, facial, or thermal body-therapy treatment.
Superior rooms with two queen beds and an optional pullout sofa are large enough to accommodate a family of four or a quartet of All in the Family super fans. For room service, chefs at the onsite Jack Tanner's cook wild salmon fillets and sugar-cane skewers of sirloin steak and shrimp. Despite the upscale grilled fare, the restaurant maintains a casual vibe with TVs attached to every booth and an outdoor patio lined with potted flowers.
Niagara Falls, Ontario: Awe-Inspiring Waterfalls Surrounded by Casinos
With its glitzy casinos, neon signs, and soggy Elvis impersonators, Niagara Falls has plenty of Vegas-style kitsch. But the waterfalls tend to steal the show, with more than 700,000 gallons of water pouring into the Niagara River per second. The Canadian side of Niagara draws tourists for its views of Horseshoe Falls and boat rides on the popular Maid of the Mist, which has been sailing into the falls' tumultuous basin since 1876. Behind the falls, tunnels provide an up-close perspective. For an entirely different viewpoint, take an elevator up to the top of the 775-foot tall Skylon Tower, where you can see the Toronto skyline on a clear day.
Guests also receive a credit to Seneca Niagara Casino to try their luck on its more than 4,200 slot machines. Table games range from blackjack and roulette to poker variations. To play the casino’s Let It Ride poker, gamers combine cards with the dealer in hopes of getting a winning hand. Groupon customers must have a passport to go to the Seneca Niagara Casino.
